FITCHBURG, Mass. (September 10, 2012) – Sophomore Brian McDonald (Westwood, Mass./Hebron Academy) collects his first weekly honor of the season after being named the New England Football Conference’s (NEFC) Special Teams Player of the Week as announced by the league office Monday morning.
McDonald led the Falcons special teams this past Saturday, racking up 218 punting yards on five kicks for an average of 43.8 yards per punt. Three of McDonald's punts landed inside the Curry ten yard line, including spots at the eight, six and three yard lines. His kicking efforts were crucial in leading Fitchburg State to its first victory over Curry College since September 10, 2005.
The Fitchburg State football team will be back in action on Saturday as it hosts Salve Regina University at 1:30 p.m.
