MASCAC Football Pre-Season Poll Announced
FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State football team was recently picked eighth overall in the 2021 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) pre-season football poll as announced by the conference office this afternoon.

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State football team was recently picked eighth overall in the 2021 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) pre-season football poll as announced by the conference office this afternoon.
Framingham State was selected as favorite to capture the 2021 MASCAC football title in a vote of the league's coaches, capturing six of the nine first place votes to obtain 59 points. Following close behind Framingham State was Western Connecticut State with 53 points, while Bridgewater State placed third overall with 52 points.
UMass Dartmouth followed in the fourth spot with 46 points, which included on the final two first place ballots, while Plymouth State finished in the fifth spot with 35 points. Mass, Maritime landed in sixth with 34 points, while Westfield State was picked seventh with a total of 18 points. Fitchburg State and Worcester State rounded out the 2021 MASCAC football preseason poll in eighth and ninth with 17 points and 10 points respectively.
The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success, while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football beginning in 2013.
The Fitchburg State football team will kick-off the 2021 season on Saturday, September 4th as they travel to Dean College to take on the Bulldogs for a non-conference tilt, starting at 12:00 PM.
