Falcon Pair Honored With MASCAC Weekly Honors
Sophomore Amy Fahey (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington) and senior Matt Muolo (Stoneham, Mass./Stoneham) were recently tabbed the MASCAC Players of the Week in their respective sports as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Fahey earns third POTW honor; Muolo named Field ATOW
FITCHBURG, Mass. (December 5, 2011) – Sophomore Amy Fahey (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington) and senior Matt Muolo (Stoneham, Mass./Stoneham) were recently tabbed the MASCAC Players of the Week in their respective sports as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Fahey collects her third MASCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honor of the season, while Muolo earns his first MASCAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week accolade of the year.
After leading the Fitchburg State women’s basketball team to a perfect 3-0 mark on the week and a blemish free 7-0 clip to the start the season, Fahey finds herself atop the MASCAC with her third weekly honor the year. The sophomore forward averaged 26.3 points and nine rebounds in the week for Falcons, including double-double effort of 38 points and ten boards in 69-49 victory at Nichols. She added 27 points in 68-48 triumph at Simmons while netting 18 points in 72-69 victory at Emerson.
In the Field, Muolo collected his first honor of the season in dominating fashing after Muolo qualifying for New England Division III, ECAC and All-New England Championships at the Jay Carisella Invitational hosted by Northeastern University. In the All-Division meet, Muolo finished second overall in the weight throw with a toss of 16.67m, while adding an eighth place performance in the shot-put with a heave of 14.46m.
The Fitchburg State women’s basketball team (7-0, 0-0 MASCAC) will be back in action tomorrow night as it hosts Lasell College at 7:30 p.m. The Falcons track and field teams will be in action on Saturday as they visit Harvard University at 10 a.m
