FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State baseball team was recently picked fourth overall in the 2017 MASCAC Baseball Pre-Season Coaches Poll as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.
Westfield State, Salem State and Massachusetts Maritime Academy have all been selected to win the 2017 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Championship as voted upon by the coaches from around the league.
Westfield State earned four first place for a total of 42 points in this year's poll, while Salem State, the reigning MASCAC regular season and post-season tournament champions, amassed 42 points, including three first place ballots.
Sitting atop the poll with Westfield State and Salem State was Massachusetts Maritime Academy, who totaled 42 points, which included the final first place vote, while Fitchburg State followed in the fourth spot with 29 points.
