Baseball Selected Seventh In Pre-Season Poll
FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State baseball team was recently picked seventh overall in the 2023 MASCAC Baseball Pre-Season Coaches Poll as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State baseball team was recently picked seventh overall in the 2023 MASCAC Baseball Pre-Season Coaches Poll as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.
Bridgewater State was selected as the MASCAC Baseball pre-season favorites to capture the 2023 MASCAC crown after collecting six first place ballots for a total of 48 points to outdistance second place Westfield State's total of 43 points, which included the two first place ballots.
Mass. Maritime followed in the third slot with 34 points, while the Vikings of Salem State landed in the fourth slot with 29 points. Worcester State was next in fifth with a total of 28 points, while Framingham State sat in sixth with 18 points.
Fitchburg State was picked seventh with a total of 17 points, while the Trailblazers of MCLA rounded out the 2023 MASCAC Baseball Pre-Season poll in eighth with seven points.
The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in the sport of football for the 2013-14 academic year.

The Fitchburg State baseball team opens its 2023 campaign on Saturday, February 25th as they take on the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer College in a non-conference matchup at the New England Baseball Complex, starting at 3:30PM.
