Fitchburg State Ranked Eighth In Pre-Season Coaches Poll
The Fitchburg State football team was recently ranked eighth in the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Pre-Season Coaches Poll as selected by the league coaches Monday afternoon.
Endicott picked to defend NEFC title in 2011
MANCHESTER, N.H. (August 23, 2011) – The Fitchburg State football team was recently ranked eighth in the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Pre-Season Coaches Poll as selected by the league coaches Monday afternoon.
Defending NEFC champion, Endicott College, was selected to defend its NEFC title as the Power Gulls received nine of the 16 conference coaches' votes to claim the 2011 crown. Endicott earned the top spot in the Boyd Division, being projected as the top team by six of the eight division coaches, while Maine Maritime Academy was a runaway choice for the top spot in the Bogan division.
Framingham State and Bridgewater State were locked in a tight race for second in the Bogan Division, being separated by a single point, while Western New England was selected as runner-up in the Boyd.
Curry, projected as the fourth place finisher in the Boyd Division, received the second most, first-place votes, while Framingham State and Worcester State also received first-place nods as the potential conference champ.
Fitchburg State is set to open its 2011 campaign on Friday, September 2nd, as it hosts Becker College at 7 p.m.
