MASCAC Football Pre-Season Poll Announced
The Fitchburg State football team was recently picked eighth overall in the inaugural 2013 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) pre-season football poll.
Falcons collect 20 points for eighth pick overall
FITCHBURG, Mass. (August 20, 2012) – The Fitchburg State football team was recently picked eighth overall in the inaugural 2013 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) pre-season football poll.
Framingham State, which won the New England Football Conference (NEFC) title last fall, captured seven of the nine first place votes to obtain 77 points. Following close behind Framingham State was Bridgewater State with one first place vote for 73 points, while Mass-Maritime Academy also garnered a first place tally, finishing third overall with 62 points.
Rounding out the top five teams were Worcester State and Westfield State with 46 and 45 points, respectively, while newcomer Western Connecticut State landed sixth in the poll with 37 points. Plymouth State was slated to finish seventh with 25 points, while Fitchburg State and UMass-Dartmouth tied with 20 points for the final spot.
The Fitchburg State football team will kickoff the 2013 season on Friday, September 6th as it hosts Becker College at 7 p.m.
