FITCHBURG, Mass. – Junior place kicker/punter Christopher Ludwig was recently named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) football Special Teams Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Sunday evening.
The third year Falcon went a perfect 5-for-5 on extra point attempts, while adding six punts for 204 yards for an average of 34 yards per punt to help lead Fitchburg State to a 35-3 victory over the Bears of Bridgewater State University at Elliot Field on Saturday afternoon. The 32 point margin of victory was the Green and Gold's largest margin of victory against the Bears in the programs' history.
On the season, Ludwig has totaled 19 points on 16 point after touchdowns and one field goal as well as averaging 37.6 yards per punt, punting 20 times for 752 yards, including four punts inside the 20.
The Fitchburg State football team (3-1, 1-1 MASCAC) returns to action on Saturday as it travels to Mass. Maritime Academy to take on the Buccaneers for a contest starting at 12 p.m.
