FITCHBURG, Mass. – Senior safety Asante Easter was selected Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Football Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Sunday evening.
The fourth-year Falcon paced the Falcons defense, totaling nine tackles on four solo stops and five assisted tackles to go along with one fumble recovered, one pass defended and an interception, which Easter ran back 63 yards to put the ball deep in Lancer territory to secure the Green and Gold's 23-0 shutout victory over MASCAC rival Worcester State University on Saturday afternoon.
The Fitchburg State football team (5-1, 3-1 MASCAC) returns to action next Saturday as they travel to Western Connecticut State for MASCAC showdown on the road with a 6 p.m. kickoff.
