LEC Pre-Season Field Hockey Poll Announced
FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State field hockey team was recently ranked tenth in the Little East Conference Pre-Season Coaches Poll as voted upon by the league coaches.

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State field hockey team was recently ranked tenth in the Little East Conference Pre-Season Coaches Poll as voted upon by the league coaches.
Following back-to-back unbeaten conference seasons, the Keene State field hockey program has again been picked to hoist the league trophy as the Little East Conference announced the 2015 Field Hockey Preseason Poll on Monday. Under the guidance of 26th-year head coach Amy Watson, the Owls received seven of 12 possible first-place votes to top the poll with 138 total points.
As voted upon by the LEC's 12 head coaches, Plymouth State garnered the second spot in the results, receiving two first place nods to total 122 points. Third place was earned by UMass Dartmouth, which also notched two first place votes and totaled 106 points.
The fourth and fifth slots in the preseason poll went to Western Connecticut (91 points) and Southern Maine (86 points), respectively, with the Huskies earning the final first place vote.
Rounding out the poll results were Bridgewater State (82), Westfield State (77), Worcester State (74), Eastern Connecticut (66), Fitchburg State (37), Framingham State (28) and Salem State (22). Bridgewater State, Eastern Connecticut and Worcester State enter 2015 as LEC Tournament contenders last season.
Conference play in Little East field hockey will consist of each team meeting each other once during the regular season, with the first interleague contests scheduled for Sept. 12. The top eight teams in the final regular season conference standings will participate in the 2015 Little East Field Hockey Championship, with the tournament winner earning the league's automatic berth to the 2015 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship.

The Fitchburg State University field hockey team will open its 2015 campaign on Wednesday, September 2nd as it hosts the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University at 4 p.m.
