Knower posts a team-high 11 points in Falcon setback
CHICOPEE, Mass. (December 4, 2008) - The Fitchburg State men's basketball team endured a tough 90-55 setback to #16 Elms College in non-conference action this evening at The Maguire Center.

Sophomore Elliot Knower (Templeton, Mass./Narragansett) led the Fitchburg State offense with a team-high 11 points, while adding four rebounds and one block. Senior Brian Torres (North Dighton, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth) was also solid for the Falcons, totaling eight points and four boards, while classmate Jeff Kozik (Auburn, Mass./Auburn) added nine points and two assists.
Elms junior Juan Galdon (Holyoke, Mass./Holyoke) led all scorers with a game-high 30 points on 11-of-16 shooting, including 9-of-16 from three point land. Senior Aswad Thomas (Hartford, Conn./Weaver) was strong for the Blazers, totaling 11 points, seven rebounds and nine assists, while junior Javon Mathias (West Hartford, Conn./Plainville) connected for ten points and four boards.
Elms collected an early 13 point lead at the half (45-32) and never looked back as it collected its seventh consecutive victory of the season. Galdon led the Blazer scoring surge, touching for 21 points in the first half while Mathias aided the attack with eight.
In the second frame, Elms continued its momentum, opening the half with a 16-4 run to take a commanding 61-35 lead. Galdon led the Blazers second half charge with nine points on 4-of-7 shooting while Torres and Knower each registered four points for the Falcons.
Fitchburg State (3-2, 0-0 MASCAC) will be in action again on Saturday as it host WPI at 3 p.m. Elms (7-0, 0-0 NECC) will host Trinity College on Saturday at 3 p.m.
