FITCHBURG, Mass. – Junior guard Jaleel Bell was recently selected both Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) and Worcester Area Collegiate Basketball Association (WACBA) Men's Basketball Player of the Week as announced by both the MASCAC and WACBA earlier this week.
The first-year Falcon averaged 25.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and three assists per contest, while shooting 46.2 percent (6-for-13) from the field and perfect 24-of-24 from the charity stripe in a 2-0 week for the Green and Gold.
Bell posted a game-best 28 points, eight rebounds, two assists and a steal in an 88-82 overtime victory over Brandeis University on Wednesday evening before adding 23 points, nine caroms, four assists and one steal in an 82-74 win against Western New England University on Saturday.
The Fitchburg State men's basketball team (7-6, 0-0 MASCAC) returns to action on Wednesday as it hosts the Owls of Westfield State University for a contest starting at 7:30 p.m.
