Men's Basketball Team Partners with the Boys and Girls Club of Fitchburg and Leominster
FITCHBURG, Mass. – On Tuesday, January 26, the Fitchburg State men's basketball team partnered with the Boys and Girls Club of Fitchburg and Leominster to serve some of the area homeless a well-deserved hot meal. Volunteers from St. Mark's Church were there to cook food donated by Feens Country Store on South Street in Fitchburg.
The men's basketball team focused their energy on serving the food, entertaining the kids with crafts and games, and cleaning up after the meal. Of course the players and coaches found some time to eat as well.
"All in all it was a great experience for everyone, as many of the participants took time out to thank the players with handshakes and photos," said Falcons' Head Coach Titus Manderson. "This could not have happened without the consistent and tireless efforts of Associate Head Coach Mark Williams' involvement with the community of Fitchburg, spearheading many endeavors, working with such organizations as PAL basketball, YMCA, Special Olympics, and the Salvation Army."
The coaches and student-athletes would like to say a great big "thank you" to Donata Martin, Executive Director of the Fitchburg and Leominster Boys and Girls Club, for all her efforts in making this experience well worth the time.
