FITCHBURG, Mass. (January 7, 2009) - Fitchburg State sophomore forward Chris Riggs (Sewell, N.J./Fort Vancouver Pioneers) was tabbed the ECAC Northeast Ice Hockey Player of the Week as selected by conference officials this Tuesday.

Riggs led the Falcons throughout the week, posting six points on two goals and four assists. He helped lift Fitchburg State to a 5-2 victory over Suffolk University at the 2008 Codfish Bowl with a pair of assists, while registering one goal and one assist in a 4-4 draw with Saint Michaels at the 2008 Purple Knight Holiday Classic.
This season, Riggs has led Fitchburg State with a team-high 15 points on six goals and nine assists. He has collected three power-play scores and one game-winning goal, while adding to his career totals of 50 points on 16 goals and 34 assists.
Fitchburg State (5-5-2, 2-2-0 ECAC NE) will be in action again on Saturday as it hosts Westfield State College in a highly anticipated ECAC Northeast match-up at 7 p.m.
