Leiser Named ECAC Northeast Rookie of the Week
Fitchburg State freshman goaltender Bobby Leiser (Monroe, N.Y./New York Applecore) was named the ECAC Northeast Ice Hockey Rookie of the Week as selected by conference officials.
Monroe, N.Y. native earns first ECAC Northeast weekly honor
FITCHBURG, Mass. (November 12, 2008) - Fitchburg State freshman goaltender Bobby Leiser (Monroe, N.Y./New York Applecore) was named the ECAC Northeast Ice Hockey Rookie of the Week as selected by conference officials.
Leiser out-dueled Worcester State's junior Andrew Evans (Cromwell, Conn.) in a 1-0 battle for the UBS Championship this past weekend. The rookie net-minder made 26 saves in his Fitchburg State debut, including 13 stops in the third period. With the victory, Leiser posted his first collegiate shutout, while earning the tournament¹s Most Outstanding Player award.
This season, Leiser has appeared in two games for the Falcons, totaling 65 saves and a minimal 1.50 goals against average. He leads the team with a .956 save percentage in 120 minutes played, while posting a 1-1-0 record.
Fitchburg State (2-1-0, 0-1-0 ECAC NE) will be in action again next Saturday as it hosts Framingham State College at 7 p.m.
