MASCAC Pre-Season Men’s Soccer Poll Announced

Falcons collect 16 points for sixth pick overall

FITCHBURG, Mass. –The Fitchburg State men's soccer team was recently selected sixth overall with a total of 16 points in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) pre-season men's soccer poll.

Salem State, which claimed a share conference's regular season title in 2019, captured five first place votes for 47 points, while Bridgewater State placed second with a total of 41 points, including two first place ballots.

Tying Bridgewater State in second is Framingham State with 41 points, which included the final first place tally, while Worcester State and Westfield State finished in a tie for fourth place in the pre-season poll with 25 points each.

Fitchburg State and Mass. Maritime followed in sixth place with 16 points apiece, while MCLA rounded out the 2021 pre-season MASCAC men's soccer poll in the eighth spot with a total of 13 points.

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football in 2013-14.

The Fitchburg State men's soccer team will kick off its 2018 season on Friday, August 31st as it travels to Elms College to take on the Blazers at Leary Field for a contest starting at 7:00 PM.
