Cross Country Lends Helping Hands
Fitchburg, Mass. – On Tuesday evening the men's and women's cross country team took a break from pre-season conditioning to become kids again spending time with the young students and their families from Reingold Elementary School at the annual RES Ice Cream Social, sponsored by the PTO.
The Green and Gold ran stations for tic-tac-toe, bean bag toss, bouncy house and other fun events while the pupils met other families, were introduced to the new RES staff and toured the school.
"It was a great experience for the student-athletes to give back to such a great community, thank you to Lori Stone and the entire RES staff for the opportunity. We plan on returning to the RES classroom for reading time this academic year." Says veteran men's cross country head coach Jim Jellison, "Their kids (RES) had as much fun as our (FSU) kids."
The Falcons open the 2017 campaign this Saturday when they host the annual Jim Sheehan Memorial Alumni Invitational at the Doyle Conservation Center in Leominster, Mass. Women hit the trail at 10:30am while the men have an 11:15am start time.
