FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 16, 2010) – The Fitchburg State softball team suffered its second consecutive double-header sweep this afternoon as the Falcons dropped game one, 6-0 to SUNY New Paltz and game two, 3-0 to Wisconsin-Superior.

In game one, Fitchburg State suffered a 7-0 loss to SUNY Brockport as the Golden Eagles registered four, first inning runs to secure the victory.
Senior Leigh Trzcinski (Worcester, Mass./South) registered the lone Fitchburg State hit as New Paltz junior Jill Gallagher (Buchanan, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) tossed a one-hit shutout. Gallagher was dominant on the mound for the Hawks, registering a complete game effort with ten strikeouts. Trzcinski collected the only hit for Fitchburg State, lacing a single for a 1-for-3 performance.
Junior transfer Nicole Monroe (Townsend, Mass./North Middlesex) suffered the loss for the Falcons (0-2), yielding six runs on nine hits and three walks. The first-year Falcon added three strikeouts to mix while going the distance with seven innings pitched.

In game two, Wisconsin-Superior collected six hits for three runs as it rolled to a 3-0 victory over Fitchburg State.
Trzcinski led the Falcons offensively again, hitting 2-for-3 in the contest with a single and a double. Senior Bethany Stone (Wells, Maine/Wells) was strong in the circle for the Falcons, scattering six hits and three runs in her complete game effort.
Wisconsin Superior junior pitcher Kalli Kucharyski (Superior, Wisc./Superior) led the Yellow Jackets on the hill, collecting her first victory of the season with a complete game effort. Kucharyski totaled eight strikeouts in her start, allowing only the two hits to Trzcinski all contests.
