Falcons notch 26 points in 2021 MASCAC Softball Coaches Poll
FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State softball team was picked fifth overall in the 2021 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Pre-Season Coaches Poll.
The Rams of Framingham State (47 points, 5 first-place votes) are the pre-season pick to win the MASCAC Softball championship in a vote of the league's coaches. Bridgewater State followed in second place with 44 points, which included the remaining three first place ballots.
Following in the third slot was Worcester State with a total of 35 points, while Westfield State landed in the fourth spot with 31 points. Fitchburg State was next, sitting in the fifth spot with 26 points, while the Trailblazers of MCLA were picked to finish sixth with 17 points.
Salem State slid into seventh with 16 points, while the Buccaneers of Massachusetts Maritime Academy closed out this year's softball pre-season poll in eighth place with a total of eight points.
The Falcons kick off the 2021 campaign on Friday, March 26th when they travel to MCLA for a conference double-header starting at 2:00pm.
