Fahey Collects Pair Of Weekly Honors

Wilmington, Mass. native named MASCAC and ECAC Player of the Week
FITCHBURG, Mass. (November 30, 2011) – Fitchburg State sophomore Amy Fahey (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington) recently collected a pair of weekly honors as announced by the MASCAC and ECAC earlier this week.
Fahey was tabbed the MASCAC’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, while also being named the ECAC’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
Over the week, Fahey led the Falcons to a perfect 4-0 mark with a 76-72 victory over UMass Boston as she broke a 20-year school, single game, scoring record previously set by Malane Perry during the 1991-92 season. Fahey surpassed the previous mark of 37 with a 39 point effort vs. the Beacons, shooting 68.0% from the floor with a 15-of-22 effort.
This season, Fahey continues to lead the Falcons, averaging 28.4 points per game with 9.8 rebounds per contest. The sophomore forward is shooting 64.6% from the field and has converted 85.1% from the free-throw line (40-of-47).
The Fitchburg State women’s basketball team (5-0, 0-0 MASCAC) will be back in action on Thursday as it travels to Simmons College at 7 p.m.
