MASCAC Women’s Basketball Pre-Season Poll Announced

Falcons slated to finish fifth in 2019-20 MASCAC Women's Basketball preseason poll

Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's basketball team was selected fifth in the 2019-20 MASCAC Women's Basketball Pre-Season Coaches Poll as announced by the league office Wednesday morning.

The Rams of Framingham State were selected to win the 2019-20 MASCAC Women's Basketball title after garnering four of the seven first place ballots for a total of 34 points to outdistance second place Westfield State's total of 33 points, which included the final three first place ballots.

Next up was Worcester State in the third spot with a total of 24, while Bridgewater State followed in fourth with 23 points. Sitting in fifth was the Falcons of Fitchburg State University with 14 points, while Salem State and MCLA closed out this year's preseason poll in sixth and seventh with ten and nine points respectively.

The Fitchburg State women's basketball team opens its 2019-20 season on Saturday, November 9th as they travel to Eastern Nazarene to take on the Lions for a non-conference tilt, starting at 1:00 PM.

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's first Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC core member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football beginning in 2013-14.
