Fitchburg State Collects IWLCA Honor Roll Accolade
The Fitchburg State women’s lacrosse team named one player to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association’s (IWLCA) Division III Academic Honor Roll as announced by the organization this morning.
Murphy among 363 students honored by ILWCA
FITCHBURG, Mass. (August 19, 2014) – The Fitchburg State women’s lacrosse team named one player to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association’s (IWLCA) Division III Academic Honor Roll as announced by the organization this morning.
Graduate Erin Murphy (Warwick, R.I.) was among the 363 student-athletes honored by the IWLCA. Spanning over 126 different institutions, the 2014 Academic Honor Roll includes all student-athletes nominated by their schools that have achieved at least junior status academically and a 3.50 grade point average.
Murphy, a four year member of the women’s lacrosse team, demonstrated extraordinary efforts in both her academic and athletic activities. In the classroom, she was honored as the Outstanding Student in History/Secondary Education, while maintaining a GPA of 3.59 as well as serving as a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. On the field, Erin appeared in 64 contests for the Green and Gold, posting 19 points on 19 goals with 84 ground balls, 21 draw controls and 28 caused turnovers.
The Fitchburg State women’s lacrosse team concluded the 2014 season with an overall record of 9-9, including a 3-3 mark in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC). The Falcons advanced to their fifth consecutive post-season, defeating fifth seeded Salem State, 11-9 in the MASCAC quarterfinal round before dropping an 18-3 decision to top seeded Bridgewater State in the conference semifinals.
