The Warriors came out firing, rifling off nine shots and two corners in the first half for an early 2-0 lead at the break. Sophomore Daniela Marchitto (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional) put Eastern Connecticut on the board first, using an assist from freshman Tamar Merheb (Bethel, Conn./Bethel) for the game's first marker at the 17:03 mark.
Moments later, the Warriors struck again as senior Lauren Hickey (Southwick, Mass./Southwick-Tolland) nipped the top left corner of the net, beating the out-stretched fingers of freshman goalkeeper Jillian Kirouac (Leominster, Mass./Leominster). Hickey used a helper from sophomore Chelsea Downer (Colchester, Vt./Bacon Academy) to net her second goal of the season and give the Warriors the 2-0 edge.
In the second half, Eastern Connecticut continued its offensive pursuit, netting its third goal of the contest just 2:29 into the frame. Sophomore Taylor Buchanan (Ellington, Conn./Ellington) hit home for the Warriors, using an assist from classmate Kelly Wallace (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor) for her first tally of the year. Later in the half, the Warrirors added an insurance goal as Marchitto registered her second score of the game off a Downer helper.
Marchitto lead all scorers with two goals for four points, while Downer tallied a pair of assists. In net, junior Theresa Pagnozzi (Waterford, Conn./Waterford) earned the victory for Eastern Connecticut, totaling one save over her first half effort, while sophomore Mackenzie MacLeod (Northfield, Conn./Litchfield) stopped six shots for the Warriors in the second half.
