MASCAC Pre-Season Women’s Soccer Poll Announced

Falcons place sixth overall with 20 points

FITCHBURG, Mass. –The Fitchburg State women's soccer team was recently selected sixth overall with 20 points in the 2021 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) pre-season women's soccer poll as voted on by the league's coaches.

Westfield State, the 2019 MASCAC regular season champions, earned seven of the eight first place votes to place first overall with 49 points to outdistance second place Worcester State's total of 41 points, which included the remaining first place ballots.

Bridgewater State and Salem tied for the third spot with 35 points each, while Framingham State was next, placing fifth with 24 points. Fitchburg State placed sixth with a total of 20 point, while MCLA and Massachusetts Maritime rounded out the 2021 MASCAC Women's Soccer Pre-Season Poll in seventh and eighth place with 13 points and seven points respectively.

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football in 2013-14.

The Fitchburg State women's soccer team will kick off its 2021 season on Wednesday, September 1st as they host the Blue Jays of the University of Saint Joseph (CT) at Elliot Field with a 4:00 PM start time.
