MASCAC Women’s Indoor Track Pre-Season Poll Announced

Falcons picked fourth with a total of three points

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's indoor track and field team was recently selected fourth in the 2017-18 MASCAC Pre-Season Coaches Poll as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.

The Lancers of Worcester State were selected as the pre-season favorite to win the 2017-18 MASCAC Women's Indoor Track & Field title after receiving two first place ballots for a total of eight points to narrowly outdistance second place Bridgewater State's total of seven points, which included one first place vote.

Sitting in the third spot was Westfield State with a total of six points, including the remaining first place ballot, while the Falcons of Fitchburg State rounded out this year's MASCAC women's indoor track & field preseason poll in fourth with three points.

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football beginning in 2013-14.
