MASCAC Pre-Season Women’s Volleyball Poll Announced

Falcons place seventh overall with 11 points

FITCHBURG, Mass. –The Fitchburg State women's volleyball team was recently selected seventh overall with 11 points in the 2021 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) pre-season women's volleyball poll as voted on by the league's coaches.

Framingham State earned five of the eight first place votes to place first overall with 47 points to outdistance second place Westfield State's total of 44 points, which included the remaining three first place ballots.

Bridgewater State was next in the third slot with a total of 33 points, while Worcester State placed fourth after amassing 31 points. MCLA finished in the fifth spot with a total of 29 point, while Salem State followed in sixth with 20 points. Fitchburg State and Massachusetts Maritime rounded out the 2021 MASCAC Women's Volleyball Pre-Season Poll in seventh and eighth place with 11 points and nine points respectively.

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football in 2013-14.

The Fitchburg State women's volleyball team will open its 2021 campaign on Wednesday, September 1st as they travel to Nichols College to take on the Bison for a non-conference match, starting at 7:00 PM.
