Women's Volleyball Registers Five Set Triumph Over Vikings On Senior Day

Sardella notches match best 17 kills for Green and Gold

Fitchburg, MA: The Fitchburg State Women's Volleyball team collected a thrilling five set (3-2) victory over the Vikings of Salem State this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from the Parkinson Gymnasium on senior day.

- Records: Fitchburg State (5-16. 1-4 MASCAC), Salem State (2-19, 0-6 MASCAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Fitchburg State's offense was paced by junior Stephanie Sardella (Billerica, MA) with a match-best 17 seven kills as well as adding a game best five service ace, 18 digs and one blocking assist, while sophomore setter Mia Vestal (Wilmington, MA) added 23 assists, two service aces and eight digs. Defensively, sophomore libero Jessica Greco (Southington, CT) finished with 24 digs, three assists and one service ace.

- For the Vikings freshman Bella Coccia (Westfield, MA) and junior Ariana Barrows (Danvers, MA) finished with a team-leading nine kills each, while senior setter Eva Haralabatos (Melrose, MA) chipped in with a match-leading 23 assists and 18 digs. On the defensive end, junior libero Kailey Roche (Billerica, MA) registered a game-best 26 digs, four assists and four service aces.

This evening was senior day and the Fitchburg State Women's Volleyball Team honored four seniors playing in their final regular season. #10 Samantha Mirra, #11 Sariah Dyer, #20 Shianne Harewood and #22 Ivyanie Alves.
