Hanratty posts seven saves in complete game effort for the Falcons
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (October 25, 2011) – The Fitchburg State men's soccer team traveled to Salve Regina University this evening, falling to the Sea Hawks, 4-0 in non-conference action at Gaudet Field.
After a scoreless first half, Salve Regina exploded for four goals in the second half to earn its seventh victory of the season. Sean McAllister (North Arlington, N.J./Bergeren Catholic) put the Sea Hawks on the board first in the 53rd minute, while Jacob Bridgandi (Vernon, Conn./Rockville) followed with another Salve Regina score less than one minute later. Alex Wasilewski (San Juan Capistrano/Jserra Catholic) gave the Sea Hawks a 3-0 advantage with a goal in the 86th minute, while Patrick Charland (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) capped the game's scoring in the final minute of play.
Salve Regina out-shot Fitchburg State 19-7, including 16-0 in the second half. In net, freshman Kyle Kureczka (Berlin, Conn./Berlin) finished the contest with four saves for the Sea Hawks, while freshman Aidan Hanratty (E. Bridgewater, Mass./E. Bridgewater) finished with seven stops for the Falcons.
Fitchburg State (3-12-1, 1-5-0 MASCAC) will be back in action on Saturday as it travels to Worcester State at 2 p.m. Salve Regina (7-8-3, 2-4-3 TCCC) will visit Gordon College at 1 p.m.
